Description: Sheldon-6 features a small date and LIBERTY on the obverse, and this is sufficient to attribute the die-marriage. The "short break through TE of UNITED" mentioned in Noyes shows clearly even on this heavily burnished example. Speaking of which, the peculiar distortion of each side undoubtedly results from efforts to efface the ill effects of "environmental damage" referenced by PCGS. Still, although relatively dark, slightly lighter pecan highlights on the upper portions of the detail helps elevate eye-appeal just slightly.
