Description: The United States mint started to commercially produce and sell proof sets in the 1930’s but they did not really master the art until the 1950’s. Poor production and less than adequate packaging made it difficult to find the early sets in pristine condition with attractive appearance. This 1939 five coin proof set takes the cake with both attractive eye appeal and highly original surfaces that are difficult to find. Housed in a Capital plastics holder makes this a no brainer for any early proof set collector (ck).
