Lot Title: 1940 Proof Set, all PCGS certified
Lot Number: 895
Description: The Bert Davies Collection. Hands-down a "gem-plus" set, numeric grades range from PR-65 to PR-66, with the cent resting at PR-65 RB and showing deeply saturated cinnamon-red hue and some splashy greyish toning accents. That coin has not been CAC approved, while the remainder are. These include: nickel (PR-66, exceptionally original with subtle rose-gold and teal streaks), dime (PR-65, typical haziness over blazing silvery brilliance), quarter (PR-66, gorgeous steam-grey with a couple of darker splotches), and half-dollar (PR-66, early dies with some cameo and a strong monogram). Sequential serial numbers show that these were served up to PCGS as a complete five coin lot.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
