Lot Title: 1887/6-O PCGS MS-64
Lot Number: 428
Description: Captain Jack Collection. VAM-3, Top-100. 132 graded MS-64, 17 higher at PCGS. Aside from the 1880/79 varieties, the 1887/6 and 1887/6-O are probably the most esteemed overdates of the entire series. The lower curve of the original "6" can be seen along the lower right edge of the "7". The variety is very rare in the "gem" level, but one need not fret over upgrade with acquisition of this example, because it lies close to upgrade potential. The cheek shows no major abrasions, memorable white luster rolls and undulates through the fields, and the alabaster-white surface suffers no stains. It's as if the coin had just been plucked out of an original roll.
