Description: Captain Jack Collection. 19 graded MS-65 PL, 2 higher at PCGS. Ex-Larry Shapiro. What you see is just what you get with this blatantly prooflike 1887-O, a member of one of the shoddiest emissions of silver dollars to ever flow out of any of the mints. Despite this reputation for generally poor specimens, this is a very decent example for MS-65 PL, showing a very good strike overall. The cataloger suggests there is quite a supply of surface grazes to be accommodated by the "gem" grade but then again, we all know how delicate are the surfaces of prooflike dollars, making them prone to even tiny imperfections.
