Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1794 PCGS XF-40
Lot Number: 801
Description: Logan-McCloskey-4 is the only one of four die-marriages for 1794 that has a low "1" in the date, and a prominent center dual-dot helps affirm attribution. The very dusky low-contrast patina within the comparatively huge PCGS slab impedes ideal observation, but there appear to be none of the die-cracks found at lower left (through the second star) in later die-states, suggesting early, perfect dies for this striking. Velvety ebony-grey evenly blankets the entire coin and helps eliminate any concerns about recent cleaning of the surface. The obverse seems to be astoundingly free from contact, while the only visible signs of disruption on the reverse appear within the vicinity of the eagle's neck as tiny pinpricks.
