Description: FS-302, Valentine-2 is advertised as "1849/8", although in this later die-state, the under digit has been mostly effaced and now appears merely as some crumbles within the final "9". Curiously, there are no known "plain date" obverse dies known for 1849, as all display some sort of an under-digit in the final position. This PCGS AU-58 offers exemplary visual appeal for the grade, showing mostly aluminum-grey surrounded by pleasing album color. The reverse die is on the verge of a shattering collapse, as can be observed by the heavy die cracks throughout.
