Description: Mintage: 34,000. The final year of production of quarter-eagles in New Orleans saw a fairly low emission that plays a significant role in the scarcity of mint-state examples. Finer AU specimens therefore often get utilized in collections that otherwise would focus on UNC pieces. The luster emanating from this NGC AU-53 example suggests better-than-average preservation and aside from typical striking softness, the devices are actually surprisingly sharp.
