Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1850 PCGS MS-63
Lot Number: 752
Description: 19 graded MS-63, 4 higher at PCGS. Like many Philadelphia issues of the era, the 1850 is recognizable as a common date in the series in circulated grades, but the story is much different at the present MS-63, as a quick glance at the population report confirms. The frosty lemon-yellow surface displays timid hairlines at some viewing angles, but the most prevalent tactual feature will be the matte appearance of the portrait and immediately surrounding fields. Evidently, the obverse die had rusted a bit before being prepared for usage. A very good strike has brought up all of the obverse definition, and shows just slight softness around a couple of feathers and segments in the eagle's talons.
