Description: The F. Raphael Collection. The Redbook offers two entrees for the French colonies 1-sou, all struck at the Paris mint, with most counterstamp "RF" to indicate "Republique Francaise" for intended use in the West Indies. Both varieties make an appearance here, described as follows: "with counterstamp" (VF, darker than average planchet counterstamp centered a bit low on the flan), and "without counterstamp" (VF, pleasing mahogany color with occasional patches of verdigris. Elusive colonial types in this two coin lot.
