Lot Title: 1829 PCGS PR-64 CACCAC
Lot Number: 334
Description: Gavin "John" Rose Collection. LM-2, R.7 (as a proof). 1 graded PF-64, 1 higher at PCGS. Although PCGS declined to provide a cameo designation, even the briefest glance will provide quick acknowledgement of the distinctive frost-to-mirror contrast as Liberty's portrait stands out in particularly strong relief over the boldly reflective fields. The reverse offers slightly less contrast, and careful examination of this side also reveals trivial softness within the junction of the eagle's left (observed) wing. The Eliasberg example did receive the designation despite being a rather strongly toned example, but perhaps true aficionados of the series can overlook the absence of such dalliances, since the quality certainly stands on its own. In this case, pleasing silvery brilliance emanates from both sides, interrupted near peripheral areas merely by small portions of abbreviated slate-grey toning.
