Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1869 PCGS PR-66RD
Lot Number: 881
Description: 20 graded PR-66 RD, 2 higher at PCGS. An extremely low population of fully red coins remains extant for collectors who wish to put into their collections examples of the series that are as close to "as-minted" appearance as possible. Scarcely diminished at all, this remarkable very-gem two-cent piece offers bright, almost blinding copper-red color with limited orange toning nearer the rims. Smack-dab near the center of the shield, a subtle, wiry strikethrough provides a convenient pedigree marker, although it would be tough to mistake this specimen for any other. The fields are modestly reflective but because of very limited texture on the devices, no level of cameo designation would be appropriate.
