Lot Title: Native American Necklace
Lot Number: 303
Description: Circa 1970 or so, here’s a sterling silver (tested, not marked) turquoise and coral inlay necklace bearing the famous peyote bird design. Set between seamed beads, there are five small birds on each side of the necklace and one very large one set at the bottom. The reverse of the necklace is artisan signed with a “bear claw”, but because many Indian silversmiths used this mark, it is impossible to determine the maker. Origin is most likely Zuni, as the tribe excelled in the area of stone inlay. Condition is very fine with no inlay missing and all that’s needed now is a light polish to bring up a high shine. Length: 26”, 6.75 troy ounces.
