Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1925-S NGC MS-65
Lot Number: 955
Description: The First Through Last Collection. 28 graded MS-65, 6 higher at NGC. Long esteemed as a strike rarity within the series, the 1925-S buffalo nickel gets a single-word description by Q David Bowers: "complex". That apt reaction arises from the difficulty in locating decently defined examples, of which the present coin is a member. While nowhere near being fully detailed -- is there any such thing for 1925-S? -- the reverse does offer a full and boldly outlined horn, and even most of the bison's tail can be discerned. Fortunately, this coin need not rely entirely upon production quality as it far surpasses the norm by featuring gorgeous, original magenta-grey, pink and ice-blue toning that looks completely natural and enticing in this setting. Two small abrasions placed at the exact center of the obverse serve as grade determinants.
