Lot Title: 1838 No Drapery Small Stars NGC MS-65

Description: 7 graded MS-65, 4 higher at NGC. Valentine-1A. The same obverse die struck Valentine-2 and some collectors prefer the latter for the "even smaller" stars, but the small stars are blatantly easy to distinguish, especially for such a well preserved example. Also plain are the symptoms of die rust that distort numerous features of Liberty's portrait as well as noticeable die clash marks. For a coin taken off of such wretched dies, this is about as much dynamic luster as one can expect from the variety, accented nicely by a platinum-blonde obverse and near white reverse.
