Description: San Francisco struck the only branch-mint quarters of the 1880s and did so in radiant fashion, with this an exemplary high-relief quarter that stands up to close scrutiny. Gorgeous bone-grey mint frost swirls around both sides and encourages appreciation of the contact-free design elements. Digits in the date are struck in such high relief that they almost look glued-on.
