Description: On Target Collection. Second of only four proof deliveries within the 20-cent series, the 1876 saw 1,260 pieces struck, meaning it is not by any means the scarcest of outputs. But the limited centennial mintage always sees strong demand for proof type. While very sharply struck and nicely mirrored, this example descends into choice category due to a small scribble in the obverse right field, and perhaps the presence of unexpectedly strong die polish lines. The surface appears to project original color that further enhances appeal with almond-orange and violet undertones.
