Description: Overton-111a (R.5), "bearded goddess" to many collectors, although purists will consider only O-111b to be the "true" die-state required to achieve notoriety. Nevertheless, the die crack at the chin fully and without any voids, connects the chin to the bust. Regardless, O-111a is a rare die-marriage/state that will appeal to numerous bidders. Modest circulation shows on the highpoints, and creates a quick light-to-dark charcoal pattern against the overall. greyish hue. The look is not at all unappealing although NGC correctly denotes "cleaned", with evidence of numerous crisscrossing hairlines visible on both sides. No obvious distractions or abrasions affect either side save a single sharp nick above the eagle's beak.
