Description: Bert Davies Collection. VAM-4, and this an extremely early die state as can be inferred by the DMPL characteristics. Crosshatch die lines beneath and left of the bottom of the "1" in the date pop up off the surface, almost as if they were intended to be there. Both sides boast equally deep mirrors, which is to say that this is an absolutely dazzling example -- blazing, mercurial white except for a tinge of copper-gold on the rims.
