Description:	J.M. Consignment. HK-12a (R.6), a familiar so-called dollar entry that is somewhat rare, but which is also so popular with collectors that they very seldom appear on the market. The bronze version is far more common. The cataloger has seen a couple certified but seemingly always with impairments, and obviously, a certified example would not come in the original government packaging included here. Cataloger's grade [Choice Mint State], and more important is that this is an extremely attractive example, replete with rainbow toning and darker obsidian borders that frame the motifs to best advantage. The medals were struck in commemoration of the completion of the great Pacific Railroad. OBV: PRESIDENCY OF U.S. GRANT / THE OCEANS UNITED BY RAILWAY / MAY 10, 1869.
