Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1798 Pointed 9, 4 Lines VF
Lot Number: 495
Description: Junior Decker Collection. Bolender-9, BB-113 "pointed 9, close date". Cataloger's grade: [VF-20]. A barely discernible die crack has started to develop over "S OFA" on the reverse, suggesting die-state II, which is probably the usual age of these fairly common dies. Not so common is to have access to a non-certified example that also happens to offer wonderfully original periwinkle-grey surfaces. The surface remains amazingly free from distraction, showing only the ideal number of tiny circulation marks. The cataloger suspects the surface might display a hint of PVC haze that warrants conservation, but that is best left to the professional who can do so without affecting that marvelous vintage aspect in any way.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
