Lot Title: 1859 cent J-227 PCGS MS-64 CACCAC
Lot Number: 490
Description: Rum'n'Cola Collection. Judd-227, Snow-PT3 (R.6). Very popular with collectors of the regular series of Indian head cents, these were never struck in proof format, and until only a few decades ago, a survivor would turn up in a collection of the series on very rare occasions. The obverse die from a normal cent mates to a reverse die very similar to that of 1860, but with an "ornamental shield" at the top of the wreath. A gorgeous specimen, perfectly graded, a mixture of copper and brown luster emanates from the obverse while the reverse shows somewhat less luster and more reflectivity beneath a layer of mulberry-copper patina.
