Description: The Blackhawk Collection. 6 graded MS-67+, 5 higher at NGC. This is quite simply an earth-shattering, ground-shaking example of the famous and extremely popular Gettysburg commemorative half-dollar. Numerically finer examples allegedly exist, but the cataloger cannot see how anything could surpass the incomparable beauty of this superb-gem-plus specimen. A vast array of crimson-gold and honey chromatics fill the obverse, relieved by splashes of gorgeous lavender-grey, while the reverse sees a highly compelling, three-dimensional distribution of blood-gold and steel silvery highlights, plus a sweeping band of grey across the Confederate shield. As expected, this Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award winner possesses inimitably powerful technical aspirations, no abrasions whatsoever on the obverse, and only trivial surface grazes just right of the fasces on the reverse.
