Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1867/67 FS-301 S-1a PCGS MS-64+RD CACCAC
Lot Number: 858
Description: Snow-1a, according to the cataloger, although PCGS states "S-1" on the slab insert. On the reverse, a network of distinctive die lines within the upper loop of the ribbon, and a thicker die line above the right loop of the ribbon seem to affirm "a". According to the PCGS population report, this appears to be the single finest example of what is an extremely popular variety within an always popular series. (Caution: this statement does depend on correct attribution of this -- and other extant pieces.) A very good strike, obvious orange mint color and highly attractive, if very slightly subdued luster, speak to a borderline gem example. A faint, shallow abrasion in the obverse left field might be the only thing denying a full MS-65 numeric assignment.
