Description: The Blackhawk Collection. Beautiful by any measure, the high-relief Saint becomes a truly breathtaking treasure when one can be found so nice and so well within striking distance of the gem grade level. Merely 12-thousand or so pieces were ever struck, so there will never be enough quality pieces available to satisfy collector demand. The execution of strike in this case was beyond reproach, as Liberty's face shows full, rounded details perfectly rendered, and her knee mounds up to high relief while showing the presence of only a couple of the most trivial contact marks. Inimitable satin-roll texture unique to the type cascades through the fields, joined by some faint copper spots toward the obverse lower right. A single abrasion bears responsibility for limiting the grade as it rests in the crook of Liberty's elbow, immediately right of the torch.
