Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1806 Pointed 6, No Stem PCGS MS-63
Lot Number: 961
Description: Overton-109. When presented with an 1806 half-dollar attributed as a Redbook "pointed 6, no stems" example in high grade, invariably the first guess should be O-109, as it is the only die-marriage (and very common) . In this die-state, no die-crack has formed at the twelfth star, which would have made it much scarcer, and a multitude of clashes resting atop the digits of the date look just like mountains in the distance.

Golden hue blushes over much of this lustrous, shimmering example, with tinges of almond-orange near both rims. A very good strike brought up central definition oh-so nicely, and on the reverse, only the eagle's tail expresses much softness of detail. As would be hoped of the choice level, there are not many marks at all, aside from a few tiny intrusions lingering here and there, such as above Liberty's ear and flung out into the obverse left field.
