Description: The Crimson Collection. For the grade, this is without hesitation, a sensational "no motto" type quarter. Both sides swim in a delightful sea of color -- different from side to side but equally delightful to behold. A coin need not grade "gem" in order to qualify as a crown jewel with one's collection, and that philosophy meshes well with this nominee for the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award.

Softly opulent sea-green, Mediterranean-blue and crimson-magenta embrace the obverse in broad, nearly perfect concentric rings. The reverse has rings of album toning off-center north, incorporating similar sea-green, Navy-blue, cinnamon-magenta and coral-rose colors, all of the above awash within gorgeous, glowing luster. A fabulous strike merely adds to the appeal. Technically, the grade gets determined by wispy abrasions and a curving linear mark in the obverse left field, but everything blends well into the beautiful background due to the charming color.
