Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1807 PCGS Poor-1 CACCAC
Lot Number: 846
Description: Browning-1 most likely - there's so much wear that hardly anything more than the date and "U25" on the reverse remain. This is when attribution becomes really fun! Worn smooth, very original and a remarkably humble survivor, a cataloger has to wonder what the heck drives someone to not only put this coin into a certified holder, but then send it off to CAC for ANOTHER opinion as to grade, as if it's all that difficult to figure out what qualifies as "poor". And what the heck does the CAC sticker mean exactly at PO-1?? Does it mean the coin is "PQ" for the grade - the opposite of what a low-ball collector wants? Or does it mean "even worse than the grade", which would make the coin . . . . somehow better? . . . . than expected for a collector looking for the most amount of wear possible at the low-ball level? These answers and many more are exactly what makes a coin like this a great candidate for Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award.
