Lot Title: 1893-O PCGS MS-62
Lot Number: 546
Description: The Sidewalk Collection. VAM-3. While the PCGS guarantee of authenticity obviously serves well for such a key to the series, it is still comforting to align any coveted piece like this to the proper VAM attribution. A subtle, tiny die line connects the base of the two cotton bolls on the obverse and affirms VAM-3. Either side suffers much less obvious contact than would be expected of MS-62, nor would the active luster look out of place one point higher in grade. Even the strike suggests better quality than expected, and one must discover a series of microscopic counting wheel (most likely) abrasions inside of the obverse right stars in order to understand why the MS-63 grade wasn't assigned. Delicate almond color tinges the obverse while the reverse features a nicer partial ring of carrot-orange in the periphery.
