Description: VAM-5, 8/7 high, Top-100. 38 graded MS-63 PL, 85 higher at PCGS. The die chip between the arrow feathers and the olive branch immediately narrows down the specific VAM from the several listed for 1880 8/7. PCGS lists a surprisingly low population for what is truly not a rare variety, but then again, those in GSA holders do not figure prominently into the PCGS population (NGC seems to get the lion's share of these). This example shimmers with decent reflectivity but a plethora of tiny nicks scatters across the entire obverse and unquestionably limits the grade, even given the "gem" appearance of the reverse.
