Description: The Edellmann-Thomas Collection.1856-S gets recognition as a key date in some series, but represents only a better date within the quarter-eagle series. That being said, this is a better example than some (at AU), boasting exceptionally original peppermint-blue iridescence over royal gold surfaces. As usual, the obverse shows sharp details against a much weaker reverse, and the grade likely gets delimited by a linear abrasion in front of Liberty's lips.
