Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1921-S NGC MS-65
Lot Number: 699
Description: 37 graded MS-65, 8 higher at NGC. 1921-S needs no introduction as perhaps the worst executed emission from the entire series, as so many were struck from poor quality stock and show planchet laminations or other technical shortcomings. The dies were overused, and inadequate striking pressure frequently left soft impressions for even uncirculated coins. For this somewhat superior example (technically - the grade is not in question), only one die crack becomes immediately apparent, spearing through the top of the bison's head. His tail is not fully defined, again due to the age of the die, but overall, one cannot possibly complain about the superior execution of strike, Only nominal die erosion shows, especially at the top of LIBERTY, where the letters threaten to merge with the rim. Attractive scarlet-yellow, cobalt, chartreuse-gold and magenta hues
