Lot Title: 1895-O NGC MS-61
Lot Number: 553
Description: Crackle And Pop Collection. 62 graded MS-61, 54 higher at NGC. Sources suggest that the 1895-O silver dollars were intentionally minted with widely spaced dies, a process intended to preserve each die's lifespan. Thus, the typical example tends to show mushy central detailing. That is not the case for this outstanding (for MS-61) example. On the contrary, the individual threads of hair over the ear display surprisingly decent delineation, albeit the details are not 100% complete. The eagle's breast feathers all show and display only a trivial hint of softness, making this hands-down one of the better struck 1895-O examples one could hope to acquire. A lustrous, white example that would look just as pleasing in a holder graded one point higher.
