Description: Exceptional detailing of the obverse appears to have brought up all the possible details, while the reverse also displays impressive sharpness, missing perfection by virtue of slightly soft feathers above the eagle's left (observed) talon. This does not take into account some indistinct peripheral rim dentilation that appears to have resulted from a fatigued collar. Smooth, well-preserved surfaces suggest this specimen must have been saved away from mint bag storage, because neither side has any of the scrapes and disturbances often seen for hoard examples. An exquisite quarter-eagle that easily deserves NGC's "gem" grade assignment.
