Description: Leather-brown surfaces have a slightly "dry" appearance for the 1798 "'second hair style" cent, which leads to a low-contrast appearance overall. A dozen or so tiny darker spots rain down on the obverse, but do not really detract without a loupe, while the reverse nicely retains a bit of original "grunge". The rims lack meaningful contact, but a curious, very brief, brighter copper-orange abrasion shows just in front of the bow. Significantly darker walnut-brown layers over the 1818 and some thin, waxy residue may be present on the obverse. Two coin lot.
