Description: Maris 56-n, the common but very popular "camel head" New Jersey copper. These are often found overstruck on halfpennies and other contemporary coppers, but either the strike removed all evidence of under type, or this example was struck on a prepared planchet. That being said, as is commonly the case, the obverse was struck a bit south off center, leaving the date right on the edge of the flan. Generally attractive, the glossy surface exhibits mostly cocoa-brown with a darker patch toward the obverse upper right.
