Lot Title: 1907 High Relief-Wire Rim PCGS MS-64+
Lot Number: 280
Description: R.E. Consignment. Fully struck and magnificently detailed in virtually every area, the only possible weakness appears to be near, of all places, the reverse extreme top rim. One might not expect this of an example with a "wire rim" sobriquet, but the observation probably speaks mostly to the difficulty of manufacturing such large, high relief coins. Merely 11,250 pieces of these legendary pieces were struck and every single one is a numismatic treasure, but a "gem" example (or in this case, an example sitting directly on the cusp of the "gem" grade) is something to be acknowledged on a whole other plane.

Grading this beauty begins with noticing that there are no large contact marks, and merely a single shallow tick notches into Liberty's midsection. Curiously, a tiny dig rests on her left (observed) eye but these seem to be the only mentionable mark. About a handful of extremely faint, lazy hairlines flutter into the fields, while a splash of delicate brown flyspecks gather in front of the eagle's wing and likely represent an alloy anomaly.
