Description: The Mastodon Collection. KM# 148, Mexico City mint. Felipe V. AU-55 represents a high grade for this very elusive portrait type, and the quality that follows is more than adequate to support the grade. Minting technology of the time could lead to unevenly struck examples and a bit of definition did not get struck up over the lower central portion of the obverse, but the periphery presents very nice delineation despite faint adjustment marks. Interestingly, the fields on both sides, but especially the reverse, display flashy character.
