Lot Title: 1859-D Medium D PCGS AU-55
Lot Number: 211
Description: The Minute Hall Collection. 21 graded AU-55, 29 higher at PCGS. Winter 44-HH, the "medium D" reverse. The upright of the mintmark centers precisely over the junction of "VE" in the denomination. A smattering or rich russet-gold highlights the upper relief areas of the details, partially layered over slightly bright, royal golden patina. As a date, one frequently expects this issue to display a weaker strike, exactly as seen when one examines the intricacies in Liberty's upper hair and the segmentation of the eagle's talons. That being said, this specimen suffers very little contact as compared to many Dahlonega fives.
