Lot Title: 1807 PCGS AU-55 CACCAC
Lot Number: 144
Description: The Minute Hall Collection. Bass-Dannreuther-1, the only die-marriage. Mintage: 6,812. 1807 is THE type choice for the esteemed "capped bust right", concluding a series with the highest mintage by far of the brief twelve year run. This statement is made, of course, in the context of a mintage of fewer than seven-thousand -- hardly a vast emission of gold coins destined for future melting. Color seems particularly rich, with ruddy overtones figuring nicely into the overall presentation. A luxurious example, this choice quarter-eagle features outstanding luster for the grade, especially through the peripheral areas which show minimal wear. If there are any adjustment marks, they must be virtually invisible. The reverse has managed to evade virtually any sign of contact, while the obverse. does show perhaps three or so minor abrasions, and either side is going to inevitably display some trivial hairlines that are pretty much expected after 200+ years of existence. Modestly uneven sharpness is about typical for the type, with the E PLURIBUS UNUM only partially legible, while the denticles appear to be fully formed.
