Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1793 Wreath, Vine, and Bars S-6 PCGS VG details/damage
Lot Number: 552
Description: Lake James Collection. Sheldon-6 is the "sprung die" for the 1793 wreath cent type but bulging in the obverse left field is difficult to ascertain at the ascribed sharpness level. Look instead at the positioning between the date and sprig above, and note also the closure of the leaves at the top of the wreath, positioned just right of center of the "S" above. The PCGS "damage" proviso appears to reference innumerable ticks and abrasions that pepper nearly the entirety of the surface, as well as some old scratches, and their aggregate effect is about what one might attribute to common granularity. Brassy sienna-brown drapes both sides, although the higher relief areas of the obverse have been slightly cleaned or rubbed.
