Description: M. Diatom Collection. VAM-3, the "capped die" reverse. While not the earliest die-state for VAM-3 (those would be prooflike examples), this is a very nice earlier state such that the mess of a mintmark is strongly visible, and there has been none of the die clashing seen in die-state "A". Practically an ideal illustration of "borderline uncirculated", the beige-white surface has become only very slightly subdued by the lightest hint of circulation, such that luster runs uninterrupted through the fields, but has partially thinned through the broadest expanses. An outstanding example for the grade, replete with a powerful strike that was almost perfectly rendered on either side.
