Lot Title: 1846 AU detail, as described
Lot Number: 245
Description: The Dedication Consignment. Mintage: 110,600. Still lustrous and highly presentable at the AU-50 level of sharpness, isolated portions of frosty mint luster may still be seen in the areas immediately surrounding the peripheral stars, as well as the protected fields that lie directly against the devices. Sharply detailed, the strike must have been rather well executed when the coin left the mint, with some of the sharpest intricacies now replaced by the effects of mild wear. It is notable that the mintage for the 1846 Seated Liberty dollar barely exceeds that of the 1893-S, and it is only the excessive popularity of the Morgan dollar series that has created such a chasm of value differential between the famous Morgan dollar king and the many much-scarcer Seated dollars.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
