Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1866 Rays PCGS PR-64
Lot Number: 765
Description: 88 in PR-64 and 128 higher at PCGS. Deeply mirrored proof surfaces with light blue and gold toning cover both sides of this 1866 shield nickel. Worth mention is a small strike-through on the reverse by the word OF, likely a wire or bit of string caught in the die when struck. This much sought issue marks the first nickel five-cent coin made in the United States and is very scarce in proof, so expect spirited bidding (ls).
