Lot Title: 1924-S PCGS MS-64RB
Lot Number: 737
Description: 226 graded MS-64 RB, 38 higher at PCGS. Glancing at the population report reveals why the 1924-S has it's "sweet spot" landed smack-dab at the MS-64 RB level. For a series as popular as the Lincoln cent, a supply even in the hundreds is woefully inadequate to meet the demand of many thousands of collectors (albeit, not so many collectors strive for a complete set in or near the "Gem" level). Furthermore, it is an issue known for a paucity of examples featuring original mint red. Surprisingly attractive copper-orange emanates from the surface of this softly struck specimen, emitting the limited luster always seen for the date. Small, vertical contact marks in the obverse right field contend with the modest sharpness as the grade limiting factor.
