Description: Unexpectedly decent sharpness and even a twinge or two of luster remain for 1844, with the obverse splashed by a vivid, orange-violet flare toward the obverse lower left. Regarding 1846-O, the coin certainly has been cleaned, but "harshly" is an added injustice scarcely required, as the coin has been (in the cataloger's opinion) cleaned no worse than what is often seen for much gold of the era. Plenty of details remaining for this two coin lot.
