APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: 3-7/8 x 1-3/4 x 5/8 inches. TESTED WEIGHT: 43.335 troy ounces. OBVERSE FACE: No 701 / KELLOGG / & / HUMBERT / ASSAYERS within rectangular border / 43.39 OZ / 911 fine /$817.12. REVERSE FACE: 701. All other faces plain. Assaying required extraction of a triangular piece from the obverse bottom right corner, and the reverse top right corner. Blazing bright yellow color is the expected result from the notably high purity of .911, finer than that of circulating U.S. gold coins of the contemporary period. Metal from this bar literally would have been too soft for circulation! The length of the bar significantly exceeds twice its width, leading to a highly desirable, long rectangle of metal that would assuredly feel delightful within the palm of one's hand. Four lines of data that describe the bar's precious content are spaced a bit irregularly, such that the assayer's stamp fits readily within the larger upper field.
