Description: Copper Clappers Caper Collection. 1 graded PR-67+, zero higher at PCGS. If one believes population reports, then this is the finest known, non-cameo proof 1876 nickel known to PCGS, matched only by a solitary example at PCGS. As impressive as this achievement is, it is all the more notable given the fact that most examples cluster in only the PR-64 grade range. Upon close scrutiny, the triumphant grade assessment holds up. Zero defects will be found for the obverse, where the clear surface coruscates with brilliant, pristine whiteness. On the reverse, merely a few exceedingly faint planchet depressions can be seen below the "5" - a common characteristic of nickel proofs in that era. A sensational, aluminum-white jewel that should have no trouble elevating the appeal of some lucky collector's type set.
