Description: Scottie Earls Collection. 84 graded MS-64, 11 higher at PCGS. VAM-4, Top-100 is easily one of the best and most popular "casual" varieties due to the large, heavy die gouge hanging off the eagle's tail feathers. The PCGS population as reported is unreliable since MS-65 and even an MS-66 example exist in older holders, certified prior to the point at which PCGS began tracking variety populations. Nevertheless, the astonishing quality (for the variety) could not be more resoundingly presented. Bouncy eggshell-white luster gleams from the obverse of this soft, velvety gem, while the reverse has become draped in oyster-grey patina. Aside from a trio of tiny reedmarks on the upper cheek, very few abrasions will be found on either side, giving the coin a pleasing, original "clean" appearance.
