Description: Mintage: 19,800. 9 graded AU-58, 14 higher at PCGS. Downright scarce even at the extremely-fine level, the rarity of 1842-O soars at the borderline mint-state grade. Notably superior mustard-gold color swoops along with the flowline luster for this premium example, and the surface appears to be strictly original, showing some old grunge still worked into the recesses, as well as greyish staining from light, honest circulation. Subtle luster characteristic of the issue remains well represented, and the most notable flaw might be a few trivial hairlines sweeping left and upward from the bust.
